About the Barlow Carnival Classic Car Show

to be held from Wednesday 14th August to Sunday 18th August, 2019.

Just outside the picturesque mountains and moor of Derbyshire’s Peak District National Park, hides the village and charming parish of Barlow. For a week in August, Barlow Village is transformed as the carnival atmosphere takes over the community. Watch out for the scarecrows scattered around the village!

Carnival day itself is when the classic cars and other vehicles parade the streets. The parade begins at 2.00pm from the top of Springfield Road, proceeds down Valley Road before finishing in the local Villiage Hall grounds on Millcross Lane.

The show usually ends late afternoon (about 4.30pm). Well behaved dogs on leads are allowed in the recreation ground. The field is not suitable for wheelchair use. Stalls are on hand for those in need of some light refreshment or snacks.

Spaces are limited at this favorite local show, so be sure to book your classic vehicle in as early as you can to be included in this year’s show. Previous entries to the show have included Austin Sevens, MGs, Triumphs, Ford Escorts, a classic 1974 Mini and a most splendid 1899 Fowler D2 Traction Engine.

For places to stay, you could consider a few nights in Chesterfield as there is plenty on offer to suit any budget. Barlow has its own caravan and camping facilities at Mill Farm Cottage on the outskirts of the village close to Dunston Brook. And of course there are the countless places to stay in and around the Peak District National Park too - just make sure to book in advance as this is a busy time of year for tourists.

The village of Barlow can be accessed through the Valley Road (B6051) which meanders its way North West out of Chesterfield into the National Park. For those who have a little time extra time on their hands, why not visit Crich Tramway Village, another hotspot for all things classic, or get down to Buxton Pavilion Gardens in the heart of the park for trails and a little adventure.
